Terms of Service
The rules for using URLGate: creating and selling pay-to-open links, buying access to them, and using the API and MCP tools.
1. Who we are
URLGate is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [REGISTERED ADDRESS] ("URLGate", "we", "us"). You can reach us at hello@urlgate.xyz. By using URLGate (the website, the API, or the MCP server) you agree to these terms, the Acceptable Use Policy, the Fees & Refunds page and the Privacy notice.
2. The service
URLGate lets a creator put a price on a short link. A buyer pays the price in USDC to open it; until then the destination stays hidden. People pay from a browser wallet, AI agents pay over HTTP with the x402 protocol.
- Non-custodial. Payments are signed transfer authorizations (EIP-3009) that settle on a public blockchain. The creator's share goes straight to the creator's wallet and the platform fee straight to URLGate's service wallet. We never hold your funds and never see your private keys.
- Networks. Payments are accepted in USDC on the networks listed at
/api/v2/networks. Buyers pay no gas. - Destinations are third-party content. URLGate stores and redirects to the URL a creator provides; it does not host, check or endorse what is at that URL.
3. Wallets, sign-in and agents
- You sign in by signing a free message with your wallet (Sign-In with Ethereum). Your wallet address is your account. Keeping your wallet and its keys safe is your responsibility: we cannot recover a lost wallet or reverse a transaction it signed.
- Browser sessions last up to 7 days; agent tokens up to 24 hours. You can review and revoke sessions from your dashboard.
- If you run an AI agent, script or other automated client against URLGate, you are responsible for what it does and what it pays, as if you had done it yourself. Automated clients must respect rate limits (HTTP 429).
4. Creating and selling links
- You may only gate a URL you have the right to share, and only for a lawful purpose that complies with the Acceptable Use Policy.
- You set the price (at least 0.01 USDC). Creation fees and the platform fee on each paid open are described on Fees & Refunds.
- You receive your share of each sale directly to the payout wallet of the link. You are responsible for any taxes on what you earn.
- You can pause, resume or remove your links at any time. Buyers who already paid can still open a link that is paused, expired or sold out; a link you remove can no longer be opened by anyone, including earlier buyers.
- Changing the destination of a link after its first sale is a premium feature, because buyers paid for the destination as it was.
- Custom short codes may not be reserved words or look like an existing code.
5. Buying access
- The price, the platform fee and what the creator receives are shown before you sign. Signing the payment is your decision to buy.
- You buy access to the link's destination as the creator set it. We do not control the destination and cannot promise that it stays online or matches its description. If something is wrong, report the link.
- On-chain payments are final. See Fees & Refunds for what happens when a payment only partly completes.
7. Points
Points record activity on URLGate (for example creating and selling links). Points are not money, not a token and not a security; they carry no right to any payment, reward or future distribution. New points stay pending for a 7-day review and may be voided. To keep points fair we may withhold, adjust or void points, for example for linked wallets or other abuse; every adjustment is logged with a reason.
8. Moderation and suspension
Anyone can report a link. Moderators review reports and may take a link down, which stops it being opened or bought (see Takedown). A link reported or found to contain child sexual abuse material is taken down immediately pending review; we preserve the related records and report apparent violations to NCMEC's CyberTipline as 18 U.S.C. 2258A requires (see the Acceptable Use Policy). We may suspend a wallet that breaks these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy: a suspended wallet cannot create links and its live links are paused (buyers who already paid keep access). Moderation actions are recorded in an audit log.
9. Disclaimers and liability
URLGate is provided "as is" and "as available". Blockchains, RPC providers, wallets and destination sites are run by third parties; we are not responsible for their availability, fees or behaviour. To the extent the law of [JURISDICTION] allows, [COMPANY LEGAL NAME] is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, and its total liability to you is limited as set out under the law of [JURISDICTION]. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of [JURISDICTION]. Disputes are handled by the courts of [JURISDICTION], unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring a claim there.
11. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the current version is always at /terms.html. Questions: hello@urlgate.xyz.
