Takedown, DMCA & abuse

How to get a URLGate link taken down, and what happens after you ask.

Report a link

The fastest way is the Report a link form. Paste the short link, pick a reason (scam or phishing, malware, illegal content, copyright / DMCA, spam, child sexual abuse or exploitation, or something else) and add details. You don't need to sign in; an email address is optional and only used if we need to follow up. Agents can report through the API (POST /api/v2/reports) or the MCP tool report_link.

Can't use the form, or reporting on behalf of an organisation? Email report@urlgate.xyz with the short link and the reason.

URLGate does not host the content behind a link; it only stores the address and redirects paying buyers to it. Taking a link down stops it working on URLGate. To have the content itself removed, contact whoever hosts it as well.

What happens next

  1. Every report goes to URLGate's moderators. Links reported by several different people are flagged to them straight away.
  2. A moderator reviews the link. Apart from the one exception below, nothing is removed automatically: a person decides.
  3. If the link breaks the Acceptable Use Policy or the law, it is taken down. A taken-down link can no longer be opened or bought by anyone, including people who paid for it earlier, and all open reports about it are closed.
  4. The creator sees that the link was taken down and the reason, never who reported it. Repeated or serious violations can lead to the creator's wallet being suspended.
  5. Every step (report, takedown, restore) is recorded in the audit log.

Child sexual abuse or exploitation

URLGate has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and the sexual exploitation of children. Use the report reason "Child sexual abuse or exploitation". Please do not open the link again and do not send us copies of the material.

If you can't use the form, email report@urlgate.xyz with the short link only (never the material itself). You can also report directly to NCMEC at report.cybertip.org, or to your local law enforcement.

Copyright notices (DMCA)

If you believe a link gives access to your copyrighted work without permission, you can use the report form (reason "Copyright / DMCA") or send a written notice to our designated agent:

Your notice should include:

  1. your physical or electronic signature;
  2. the copyrighted work you believe is infringed;
  3. the URLGate short link(s) concerned (for example urlgate.xyz/abc123);
  4. your name, address, phone number and email address;
  5. a statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not authorised by the copyright owner, its agent or the law;
  6. a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the notice is accurate and that you are the owner or authorised to act for the owner.

Knowingly misrepresenting that material is infringing can make you liable for damages.

Counter-notices and appeals

If your link was taken down and you think that was a mistake, contact report@urlgate.xyz (or, for copyright, [DMCA AGENT]) with the short link, why you believe the takedown was wrong and, for a copyright counter-notice, your name, address, signature, a statement under penalty of perjury that the material was removed by mistake or misidentification, and your consent to the jurisdiction of the courts of [JURISDICTION]. A moderator can restore a link that was taken down by mistake; the restore is logged like the takedown.

Requests from authorities

Law-enforcement and other legal requests go to report@urlgate.xyz. What we store and for how long is described in the Privacy notice.
